I teach because I believe in the transformative power of music and want to share my passion with others. Helping students discover their unique voices and grow as musicians brings me immense joy. My goal is to inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for music.
As a voice teacher and performer, I regard music as the grand, universal language orchestrating life’s finest moments. My approach is a symphony of fervor and precision, where every lesson is an aria of passion and purpose. I fine-tune technique and music literacy while guiding students through the rich landscapes of various styles and composers. With a blend of enthusiasm and tailored guidance, I aim to help each student master their musical and personal growth concerto. Let’s compose a masterpiece together!
I’m a passionate performer who discovered music as a powerful outlet for self-expression. My love for performing was inspired by Pittsburgh actor Tom Atkins, whose captivating stage presence showed me the emotional power of storytelling through music. That inspiration led me to pursue vocal performance, where I’ve developed my technique and stagecraft through years of training and experience. My goal as a performer is to inspire others to follow their own passions, just as I was inspired to follow mine. For me, performing isn’t just about hitting the right notes—it’s about connecting with the audience and sharing something real and meaningful through music.
I’m a dedicated student of voice pedagogy with a deep passion for helping singers discover their true potential. My training at the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University has given me a strong foundation in vocal technique, performance, and the science behind healthy singing. I’ve also had the opportunity to attend conferences and workshops like NATS and NOA, where I’ve learned from leading experts and gained valuable insights into the art and science of singing. Through my studies and hands-on experience, I’ve learned how to combine technical understanding with artistic expression to guide singers toward more confident and expressive performances. Whether it’s refining tone, expanding range, or navigating stylistic challenges, I’m committed to helping each singer find their unique voice in a supportive and encouraging environment.
As a voice teacher and performing musician, I am deeply committed to the transformative power of music as a universal language that enriches lives and fosters personal and artistic growth. My teaching philosophy is grounded in my passion for music, which I aim to instill in each of my students. I strive to create a supportive and goal-oriented learning environment where students feel empowered to explore and cultivate their own musical interests and talents.
Passion is at the heart of my teaching practice. My enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious, and I prioritize sharing my dedication and excitement for music with my students. Whether students pursue careers in education, performance, composition, or other musical disciplines or engage in music for personal fulfillment, I aim to nurture a lasting love for art. I encourage students to continue their musical journey outside of the classroom through participation in choirs, bands, or solo performances and to keep the flame of their passion alive.
A core component of my teaching is the development of technical proficiency and musical literacy. I prioritize building a strong foundation in vocal technique and music theory while also introducing students to various musical styles and composers. For beginners, this involves focusing on basic music literacy and understanding vocal function, while for more advanced students, the focus shifts toward mastering complex vocal skills, expanding repertoire, and preparing for professional pursuits such as college auditions. I emphasize both the technical aspects of music and the broader interpretive context, ensuring students can connect with the music they perform on a deeper level.
Creating a nurturing and inclusive environment is essential to my approach. I recognize that each student has unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles, and I adapt my methods to meet their individual needs. I aim to build confidence and resilience through constructive feedback and encourage students to embrace their successes and setbacks as part of their growth process. For beginners, this means encouraging as they explore their potential, while for advanced students, it involves guiding them towards realizing their artistic goals and preparing them for the professional stage.
I emphasize setting clear, achievable goals that align with each student’s aspirations. I help students focus their efforts and track their progress by establishing both short-term objectives and long-term milestones. This goal-oriented approach enhances technical ability and fosters a sense of accomplishment and motivation. I believe that setting and working towards specific goals is essential to student development, and I encourage students to apply the same discipline and focus on their broader artistic dreams.
My teaching philosophy integrates passion, technical expertise, personalized support, and strategic goal-setting. I am committed to helping students realize their musical potential while fostering an environment where they can thrive as musicians and individuals. Through this holistic approach, I aim to inspire a lifelong love of music and empower students to confidently pursue their artistic dreams.
As an adjunct professor at Syracuse University, I had the opportunity to teach a beginner-level voice class, where we focused on the fundamentals of singing. In this course, we explored essential vocal techniques, such as breath control, posture, and proper pitch. Students applied these concepts through singing exercises, gradually building their vocal skills. I aimed to create a supportive environment where each student could develop confidence and improve their voice in a structured, hands-on setting. The course provided an essential foundation for those just starting their vocal journey.
I am a future Certificate in University Teaching recipient through Syracuse University's Future Professoriate Program (FPP). This structured professional development program prepares aspiring faculty through mentored teaching experiences, professional development events, and the creation of a teaching portfolio. The program helps build confidence and teaching expertise, ensuring graduates are well-equipped for faculty positions. Learn more here.
As a private voice teacher, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students ages 7 to 25, each with unique vocal needs and goals. I focus on creating a tailored approach for every student, helping them develop solid technique, build confidence, and explore their vocal potential. Whether introducing the basics of singing to younger students or refining techniques for more advanced voices, I strive to foster a positive, supportive environment where all students can grow and express themselves through music.
